Marikina Heights’ residents today enjoy the stone built cows placed by the city government in their park called the Evolution park. About 18 cows were sculptured and now stands as a marker of what was once the only grazing farm in Marikina.

The land area, presently occupied by the C & Ps’ Mall, the Palmera Homes and Tanseco residence, used to be owned by the renowned TUASON family. The lot served as pasture land for grazing Carabaos, Cows, goats and horses that earned its name “ dairy” or “ dairy farm.”

During the mid-50s,aside from its lush greenery, the area also teemed with cashew trees and termite mounds (know in the vernacular kasuyan and nuno sa punso, respectively ). In 1958, there was swelling of the population to 31,000 due to the influx of people coming from the suburban cities. The relative peace and serenity and its proximity to commercial centers attracted settlers to live in the community. By then, the extensive formlands, more or less 1,571 hectares, had been converted to beautiful subdivisions that sprang like mushrooms in the 70s’.

He belongs to a very rare breed of public officials that really walk the talk. I think he deserves all the support he can get from Filipinos. :D
