  • THE BEATLES

    The Beatles were rejected in 1962 by Decca Records executive Dick Rowe, who signed Brian Poole and The Tremeloes instead, following back-to-back auditions by both groups. The Beatles Decca Audition tape was subsequently turned down by Pey, Philips, Columbia and HMV.

    The Beatles finally offered a recording contract by Parlophone producer George Martin, became the most influential rck ‘n’ roll group in history.

  • MARTIN LUTHER KING, Jr.

    Martin Luther King, Jr., was forced at age fourteen to surrender his bus seat to a white passenger and stand fr the next ninety miles.

    Martin Luther King, Jr., became leader of the American civil rights movement, delivered his famous “I Have A Dream” speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial before an audience of more than 200,000 people in 1963, and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.

  • KARL MARX

    Karl Marx, after obtaining his doctorate in philosophy from the university in Jena, Prussia, in 1841, was denied a job as a teacher at the university because he opposed the Prussian government.

    Marx went on to write The Communist Manifesto with Friedrich Engels and Das Kapital. He founded two of the most powerful mass movement in history–democratic socialism and revolutionary communism.

  • JONATHAN SWIFT

    Jonathan Swift was censured for “offenses against discipline” and obtained his degree only by “special grace.”

    Swift, considered one of the world’s greatest satirists, wrote A Tale of a Tub, Gulliver’s Travels, and A Modest Proposal.

  • GOLDIE HAWN

    Goldie Hawn dropped out of American University at the age eighteen and worked as a go-go dancer at the New York discotheque Dudes ‘n’ Dolls.

    Goldie Hawn was a regular on the television variety show Rwan & Martin’s Laugh-In, won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the movie Cactus Flower, and starred in Sugarland Express, Butterflies Are Free, Shampoo, Foul Play and Private Benjamin which she also executive produced.
