Our Childish Dream of Changing the World

childish dream

In my educational psychology class, I have discussed the school of thoughts and me and my fellow classmates were fascinated with a particular philosophy that teaches that man are inherently good.

That teaching struck me as relevant to this article I’m writing about everyone’s childish dream of making a difference. Isn’t it that when we were born, our parents told us were special and meant to become somebody important?

We grew up having big dreams. We also grew up disappointed that life is not turning out the way we expected it. We then realize that our parents indeed love us and in their eyes, we were special but not meant to be rich and famous or part of the history as we envision in our childhood.

I believe though that each of us — whether we become “somebody” or not, are indeed special and unique in every way. It is how we look at ourselves that spell the difference.

It is our actions and principles that put us in the pedestal — maybe not in the pages of history — but in the heart of people that we touch. We may not be meant for bigger things but everything is in a matter of perspective. My mother may not be known to people outside of our community but I would not trade her for anybody else even if its the Beatles or Michael Jackson.

I say though that we can still make a difference even if we’re not as popular as Martin Luther or Oprah. How? Follow this simple guide from a movie I recently watched —

“How do we change the world? One act of random kindness at a time.” Evan Almighty

God bless everyone.

So, what’s your ARK today?

Hehehe.

Thanks, Marikenya. Ang dami kong nasabi.
