Evolution of Fashion Eyeglasses

January 30, 2008 · Filed Under business, general · 5 Comments

I have noticed my need for eyeglasses when I was in elementary. I was a voracious reader and I had a bad habit of reading books even after my parents would tell me to put the the lights out, I always sneak a flashlight under my blanket so I can continue my reading.

When I was in college, I worsened my problem with my eyesight by reading on moving vehicles. The ride then to our university takes two to three hours and I entertain myself by bringing along books. Unfortunately, my already blurred vision turned into a worse 225-275 grade.

Since the day I was able to afford eyeglasses, I already wore one. I tried at some point to wear contact lenses but it just doesn’t work for me. Being the fashion conscious that I am, I make sure that my eyeglasses fit my personality and does not ruin my style.

Fortunately, there was an evolution of really fashionable, colorful and stunning eyeglasses which I believe started to flood our market last year. Now, we really have variety of choices for eyeglasses frames. Check out this Zenni Optical $8 Rx Glasses:

Hair Loss and Everything Else

January 27, 2008 · Filed Under general, self-help · 8 Comments

For most people, hair is a big issue. Why not? They say that hair is everyone’s crowning glory. Hair styling is indeed a fashion statement. With the right style, age vanish with hair. Unfortunately at times, the lack of it also makes one look older.

Filipinos are vain. It’s no surprise that products on hair regaining or replanting of hair became instantly famous here. In my home alone, hair issue has become an increasing concern.

Fortunately, our son Marcus, has his hair problem at the minimum level. I’m actually more worried about it than him. I’m irritated how his hair go to different directions and point most of the time upwards even after he’s taken a bath. It’s a disaster really. When we attend events, we have to buy strong hold gel to keep his hair in place and the way we want it.

My husband of course has the biggest problem. It was silly of him to say that after marrying me, he lost most of his hair [I already clobbered him for this hehehe…]. He actually tried to save what’s left of his tresses, he in fact used different shampoos and chemicals recommended by friends and even listened to gossips about ways on growing hair. Unfortunately, nothing worked so he just asked the barber to razor his hair into what they call “semi-kalbo” style or half-bald look.

My problem on the other hand is what most women experiences after child birth. I have noticed that after my delivery to our second-born, my usual hair fall, especially after taking a bath,
increased dramatically. Today, wherever I go, I usually leave a trace by having some hair strands somewhere where I’ve been. It worries me really and like my husband, I also tried different formulas and techniques to reduce hair fall but none of those seemed to work.

I’m not losing hope though. I’m sure there are still ways I and my husband can do to save our “glory” from being uncrowned. Among the top on our list is trying provillus, effective hair loss products that gained the highest review in a reputable website about hair loss remedy. Provillus review actually renewed my husband’s hope of regaining his “younger look” and being able to style his hair in different ways.

Stretch Marks and Women’s Confidence

January 25, 2008 · Filed Under general, relationship, self-help · 5 Comments

Being a woman is indeed harder than men because of the fact that we are the ones responsible for birth delivery which put our lives into danger. Also sad is the fact that due to pregnancy, women are more prone to getting stretch marks.

To others, it may not be a big deal but to many women, stretch marks may tarnish self-confidence. After giving birth to my first born, Marcus, I realized I cannot face my husband naked anymore without the lights off. It got worser after giving birth to my second child, Marvic, I panicked and used creams to prevent stretch marks but of course, there’s no way I can prevent it anymore, it’s already there.

Fortunately, our today’s technology allow us to combat problems like this which in our mother’s time seem impossible. There’s the availability of stretch mark cream in the market and among the best that I’ve heard of is the revitol stretch mark cream.

And although it is helpful that we get rid of our stretch marks (so we can wear those bikinis again), the best cure for losing confidence is loving and accepting yourself the way you are including the changes and development that aging and pregnancy entail. It’s still a beautiful life. :)

Lovely Lights, An Option for Pet Lovers

January 24, 2008 · Filed Under business, general, self-help · 2 Comments

Since last week, my husband kept on asking me if we can get birds for our home. His mom and siblings already have pairs of African love birds and whenever they go over my in-law’s house, they would look at the birds for a long time.

While I’m pondering about my decision on having birds in our home, I suddenly thought about this sign that I usually see at department stores with fragile items:

“Lovely to look, nice to hold, if you drop it, we consider it sold.”

Birds are just too lovely to look at and very fragile and if ever we will have a pair in our house, I wanted to give it utmost protection and at the same time, highlight their beauty. With this, I believe the best method is providing our “future birds” led lighting from birddogdistributing dot com as I’ve heard they offer best technology when it comes to providing rope lights. Rope light are indeed good for adorning cages since they do not emit too much heat that would make the pets uncomfortable plus its decorative and pretty in the eyes.

I remember in the past, I used to own a pair of rabbit and my favorite of the two, pochacco (named after my favorite gift gate character), was bitten by a rat while in his cage. I believe among the reasons why it happened was because his cage was poorly lighted. So, if ever I’ll give way to my hubby and son’s plead of having adorable winged-creatures at home, providing them bird light is sure an attractive option. Read more

Tricks of Free Online Stores

January 24, 2008 · Filed Under blogging, business, general · 5 Comments

If you’re planning of opening an online store, I suggest you get a hosted and paid shopping cart software from reputable providers like AShop Commerce.

Do not be deceived by free online store builders like ecrater dot com. I was really disappointed with my venture with ecrater. I’ve decided to open my first online store with them because I loved their layout and their ecommerce software seem fully loaded so I immediately stuffed my free store account with logos and products!

During the first week, the store was operating okay, it even got visitors coming from my blog because I linked it. On the second and third week, to my dismay, when I went to my store and clicked at the categories hoping to see my beautiful templates for sale, there were no products in my listing! And what made me furious more was inside my store, all you’ll find are google adsense!!!

Overseas Jobs For Medical Career Professionals

January 23, 2008 · Filed Under education, jobs, travel · 2 Comments

Just this morning, my husband asked me to check the POEA website for possible job opportunities abroad. Apparently, he was watching television last night when he saw the news on the need for a lot of overseas workers by POEA. There were also gossips among his friends that indeed a lot of pinoys are needed to fill in overseas jobs.

When we opened the website though, we were disappointed to see that there were only job announcements abroad for those in the medical field.

Photobucket

I was not surprised with this considering that a lot of Filipinos are shifting careers now from other fields to medical related. The most popular medical profession today for Filipinos is Nursing but it takes too long to finish the course and you must pass the board too which is critical. If you’ll look at the screenshot from POEA, there are actually a lot of other opportunities in the medical arena that’s easier and shorter to study and inexpensive.

Among the courses are ultrasound tech or sonographer. My husband’s friend is an ultrasound technician and has never had any problem applying for a job locally, much more, abroad. If you’re interested in becoming a sonographer, enroll in an ultrasound technician school which links to actual ultrasound tech school websites which may be found in the internet. For instance, for those who are interested in enrolling to any medical career training, online schools like www.medical-career-training.com would help you find the right schools in popular medical careers in your area.

Saving The Marikina River,
An Inspiring Story Of A City

January 23, 2008 · Filed Under about marikina, general, travel · 8 Comments

Winner, 1995 Galing Pook Award for Innovation and Excellence in Local Governance and Hall of Fame, Cleanest Inland Body of Water in the NCR.

In 1993, the city formally launched the program, Save the Marikina River, with the aim in view of rehabilitating and saving the river valley from extinction. It was anchored on the principle:

The people have to touch and smell the water. It is hoped that this experience and exposure will galvanize them to muster enough political pressure for the government and the rest to act and conserve the water. Mayor BF

The project was far from being ambitious in features. The city did not think of dredging or diking which it could not afford anyway. With only 40M spread over seven (7) years, including maintenance and with hardly no external assistance, the city was able to bring the river back to life and transform it into a sports and recreational park (probably the biggest in the country today in a natural setting).

A LOOK AT ITS PAST

Photobucket

A few years back, the river was filth and stench, a repository of all types of foul smelling and unsightly wastes. Only few dared to venture close to it and none wanted to a get a sniff of stinking waters pitched black with pollution spewed by factories and industries and domestic wastes wantonly thrown by the squatters lining the banks.

The deterioration of the river was brought by the uncontrolled encroachment and indiscrimate disposal of both domestic and industrial wastes and garbage in the easement of the river. It also suffered land degradation brought by the continuous quarrying on its beds and along the banks that resulted to scouring and erosion.

Resurrecting a dying river was only made possible through the bulldog tenacity of Mayor Bayani Fernando. Private assistance came in only when the river park was undergoing development. In the past, attempts have failed in removing thrash from the river and in flushing-out the squatters along the riverbanks. Many thought it would take a miracle to restore the lost grandeur of the Marikina River. It took a strong political will to finally carry out successfully the river rehabilitation that eventually gained the respect and admiration of the people. They have now taken themselves to task in preserving the gains of the project.

On Being An Employee

January 23, 2008 · Filed Under general, self-help · Comment

Work is not just a set of tasks or duties nor just a means to make a living. One’s office, position and function entail trust and responsibility.

It has nothing to do with rank because each employee has a vital role to play in the success of the organization.
