Choosing Valentine’s Gift For Your Lady Love

(This article was created by request of my favorite reader, palitoking.)

A couple of days ago, I’ve written tips on Inexpensive Valentine’s Day Gifts for boyfriends and husbands. This time, I would be sharing to you winning ideas on what a boyfriend, husband or even a suitor may give his lady love this valentines.

  • Anything Sweet and Nice. In this category, the traditional flowers and chocolates are still considered winners, only if there’s a twist. It is still fun receiving flowers and chocolates on v-day but really boring and not exciting anymore. But don’t despair, the roses and ferrero trick would still work if you modify the way it was given. Examples? Hmmm… if all this time, you have been personally giving the flowers to your honey, this time, have it delivered! Nothing beats a woman’s moment where all eyes are on her because she was handed a bouquet of flowers from a delivery man. And oh, don’t forget your handwritten card with your truly sweet message on it!

  • Anything Cute and Adorable. Women always love receiving cute and adorable stuff. It need not be expensive also. Classic example of items that falls in this category are the huggable stuf toys (it may sound old school but women still love hugging stuff toys from lovers) but makes sure, the size of the stuff toy is indeed for hugging and not looking. For modification, you may give a stuff toy with some blings on it (didn’t i say women love blings?) like matching bracelet and necklace. You may also put a tag on the cute thing’s neck with a message like “Her name is ____, and she’s here to always remind you how much I adore you.”

  • Anything Kikay. A lot of women love “kikay” stuff. If you’re girl falls into this category, you’re lucky! It would be terribly easy for you to shop for gifts. How would you know she’s kikay? She’s kikay if she always wear matching outfits and i’m not just talking about the blouse and the shoes! A totally kikay girl adorn her outfit with matching accessories like bag in the same color or texture bag and fancy jewelries like bracelets, earrings, watches…etc. She’s also kikay if her bag or wristlet or pochette or even her makeup kit have blings (keychains or bag adornment accessories). She’s definitely kikay if she keeps on buying things she drooled over but doesn’t need at all. (*sigh… men hates this I know lol :D ) What to buy for a kikay lover? “KIkay” bags, wristlets, shoes/sandals/slip-ons/flops (if you know her size), fashion jewelries that matches, watches, planners, pens, hair accessories.

  • Anything that was Given Time to Think About. If you’ve spent some time with your girl, you’d know what she wants or need. If you were attentive enough, you would know that she’s been dropping hints to you about the upcoming concert of her favorite singer or that she’s been dying to buy that new perfume or that pair of rubber shoes…etc… etc… By buying what your girl really likes, she would know that you indeed want her to be happy.
  • Anything that comes with Effort. I have a friend whose been wanting to have a copy of a book which is not yet sold in the Philippines, only in the US. Her boyfriend searched in an online auction site for the book and have it shipped for her. She was totally happy. Another example also is the suitor I had in the past who surprised me with a bouquet of flowers. What made the flowers special was this: He brought me to a restaurant after movie then after we ordered, he said he’ll just make a phone call but he came back with a bouquet of a beautifully-arranged flowers that in his cue, was brought to the restaurant by the delivery man of a flower shop where he ordered it before our date. I felt special teehee… :)
  • Anything with Personal Touch. If you can draw or paint, draw her and have it framed. If you can compose, write her a song. If you can play the guitar, serenade her. If you don’t have those kind of talents, you may ask someone or pay someone to make a creative collage of your pictures together and have it framed (it is still considered personalized since you take time to look for and choose pics of you together for the art). Women are always touched with personalized stuff.
  • Anything Expensive. Now this is tricky because not everything that is expensive is wonderful to have. It should still fall with the category of the following: something cute, beautiful or adorable, something fancy that would cost heads to turn, something useful, something with value for reselling, or something that is truly a collector’s item. Take these into consideration unless you want your gift stuck in a drawer or somewhere your girl would not even bother to remember.

If you have a really nice budget though, it would be truly memorable to give your honey a pricey gadget, one that she really wanted to have like a new cellphone, an mp4 player, usb, play station or the likes. All in all, in gift-giving for any occasion, always consider the following: what you can afford or able to make and what would be appreciated by your love one.

And one more tip — anything that you would give her this valentines day would be more memorable and special if you would put a little drama or personal touch to your gift. With this, let’s all have a love-filled valentines day!
