Life in the Eyes of a Child
“Love is stronger than death even though it can’t stop death from happening, but no matter how hard death tries it can’t separate people from love. It can’t take away our memories either. In the end, life is stronger than death.”
I was very surprised tonight when my son suddenly asked me: “Mama, what will we do if you die?”
I was so astounded I was silent for a while and managed to ask him back why did he ever thought of asking such question. He replied sadly that he just thought of it and wanted to know what would happen to them if I die. I was prepared for this conversation and honestly, I wasn’t able to provide my son a brilliant answer.
Dying is an inevitable, normal occurrence in life. As for me, I am not prepared for death. More than that, as a mother, I worry for my son’s future which I was not able to secure yet. At this point, I wished I was able to get that term insurance for my son’s education. I hope too that I’d have more time to spend with him, to make him happy, to give him love.
My little Marikenyo’s innocent query suddenly made me thoughtful of our life and future as a family. I hope I’d be able to provide my son the best years of his life, until my last breath, in God’s will.
