Hassle-Free Passport Application Experience Courtesy of Marikina Mobile Passporting

After long years of planning on getting my very own passport, I finally applied for one! What more, my passport application experience was very hassle-free! Thanks so much for the Marikina Mobile Passporting Project with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), applying for a passport was fast, convenient and easy!

I remember more than five years ago when my college friends applied for the first time for passport. They had to go to DFA before the crack of dawn because of the long line awaiting the applicants. It was very hard to apply for passports at that time and so, there was also a proliferation of fixers. Fixers are travel agencies or individuals whom you would pay double or triple the real amount of the passport since they would be the ones to process and deliver your passport at your convenience. The place was also beaming with vendors and all others who photocopy, take photos, notary, etc. My friend also told me that at that time they went there, she realized she wasn’t able to bring her pen so she bought one and realized the vendor was actually selling marketing pens which are supposed to be free.

I’m very fortunate that I’m a Marikeño and therefore, I only need to go to the city hall for my passport application. I even went there this morning for my passport interview with my son and in about thirty minutes, I’m done with the interview and processing and would be waiting in a week or two for the releasing! How convenient eh!

For those of you who were not able to apply for a passport today, don’t worry. I believe the City Civil Registry of Marikina will hold again another mobile passporting after some months. You may check Marikenya every now and then for announcements on the date.

For the meantime, secure already the requirements for getting a new passport:
–> NSO Authenticated Birth Certificate, for married women, you also need to get an NSO authenticated Marriage certificate
–> 3 pieces passport size photos in royal blue background. When my passport photo was taken, I was told that DFA is very strict with their policies on photos. You can’t wear earrings, your hair should be out of your face, your make-up should be light, you can’t smile widely because your teeth should not show, and there’s a right angle for tilting your face. My passport photo was a disgust. :)
–> Photocopy of identification cards like: company ID, driver’s license, GSIS or SSS plastic cards, and other valid IDs
–> Photocopy of other supporting documents like transcript of records, etc.
–> passport fee of Php750.00

    tin…

marikina regularly holds mobile passporting eh, parang every 3 mos sha. ang alam ko, ang pasig eh hindi nag-gaganito. go to dfa’s website, may sked don ng mobile passporting sa mga localities.

i would suggest you regularly call dfa hotline at 8344000 and ask for the mobile passporting schedules. kase yung sa website di sya palaging updated. and u also have to inquire dun sa respective lgu kung tumatanggap sila ng nonresidents kase alam ko sa pasig ganon. unlike dito sa marikina we accept non marikina residents

Hay grabe sobrang nakakainis talaga kumuha passport sa DFA akalain mo naman i already have the basic requirements: NSO birth cert, transcript, NBI, Voter’s affidavit, SSS-E1 form, 2 Valid ID company and postal) tapos dineny ang application ko ang hinahanap school ID eh sinurender namin after graduaion,Yearbook at alumni ID eh hindi pa namin nakuha, babtismal with dry seal at form 137 nung hayskul eh binigay namin nung nag-enrol kami sa college..Hay naku tapos they are very unprofessional saka kung magtanong parang nang-iinsulto akalain mo ba naman tanungin lahat major subject and their descriptive titles, ano napag-aralan mo describe each at paano mag-start daw ng program kasi IT graduate ako sino yung mga personnel sa school namin at etc..parang mga non-sense ang tanong eh wala naman kinalaman sa pagkuha ng passport ko yun..hay naku talaga kaya parang iiyak na ako umabsent lang ako sa trabaho parang kumuha tapos ganun pa nangyari…Saan ba puwede ireklamo ang katulad ng mga taong eto

    hi ladymizzy…

i’m sorry to hear about your dfa-passport experience. this actually made me remember my NSO experience which is as irritating as yours.

make dfa aware of your grievance, write them through their website at http://www.dfa.gov.ph. go the “contact us” page. you may just copy paste your feedback here.

    good luck!
