Wear it Right on Job Interviews. Part of the Series for Resources on SM Marikina Jobs Fair.

Here is the second round of tips and guides for applicants for the SM Jobs Fair to be held next month.

Make a Good Impression During Job Interviews

Most companies, especially those in the area of Sales and Merchandising like SM, wanted employees with “pleasing personality.” If you’re not readily gifted with beauty or body, the more you should make an effort to look “pleasing” by wearing the right clothing and accesorising correctly.

Let us focus on what SM requires for their applicants. Remember these guides when coming for an SM Job Interview:

For WOMEN

  • Collared Blouses, preferably white especially for applicants for rank and file positions (saleslady, cashier, etc.).
  • Knee-length skirt (preferably blue or black) or slacks (preferably blue or black).
  • Limited and simple jewelry. Do not wear loud or extravagant fashion earrings, you’ll be safe wearing a pair made of freshwater pearls.
  • Neat hairstyle.
  • Day make-up. Never come to a job interview with SM not putting on the basics: lipstick, eyeshadow and blush-on.
  • Black Close shoes with at least 2 inches heels.
  • Clean nails.

    For MEN

  • Polo (Preferred) or Collared Polo Shirt. Avoid loud designs with flowers or skulls. You’re safe with a plain-colored polo or one with minimal designs.
  • Black or dark colored Slacks.
  • Dark colored socks.
  • Black, Close leather Shoes.
  • Neat hairstyle, no punky or anime looking characters. Hair color should be black or dark brown only, no other colors are acceptable.
  • Little or no jewelry. Definitely no earrings.

After preparing your correct outfit and look for the big day, here are some more things you should remember:

  • Put your cellphone in silent mode.
  • Do not chew gum.
  • Cover tattoos if any.
  • Iron your clothing.
  • Make sure you have your resume ready (it is helpful to always have extra copies of resume).
  • Do not wear ill-fitting clothing. It will make you look uncomfortable and may affect your confidence level during the interview.
  • Polish your shoes.
  • Bring candies or breath mints and use it minutes before your interview.

Remember, your confidence is high when you look good and prepared. On top of everything, be hopeful, think positive and Smile!
