A Letter of Concern from a Marikenya Reader

I have received a letter from a Marikenya reader, Ms. Mylene de Leon, also a Marikina resident. I have posted it to reach the Marikina City Government and to create awareness for Marikeños, particularly those living in the area of SSS Village in Concepcion Dos.

We would like to seek your help in raising the awareness of our city government on the series of crimes happening within our vicinity in Olive St SSS Village Marikina City. (Creek side)

Just recently, one of our neighbors who had just gone home from her night duty in a call center, was sexually abused inside their home when gang men, forcibly (knife point) followed her entering their home. Previous to that, there have been series of reports of heinous crimes (rape, robbery, hold up within the vicinity of Olive St.) The incident happened when the city government decided to reclaim the government area along the creek side of Phase 2 Concepcion Dos Olive St.

The Government had cemented the area and work on a bike lane. Though the intentions of the government may be good but this just opened more exit doors for unscrupulous people to easily get away of their evil schemes.

The Government had installed lightings however, these were busted, cable wires were already taken by unscrupulous people. We requested that the city government do a regular patrolling within the vicinity and also, kindly INSTALL FENCE along the creek side to prevent entry of Non-resident of Marikina to pass by in the area.and mark as a boundary between Marikina City and Cainta.

Please do something to apprehend those unscrupulous people to bring back PEACE AND ORDER in our area. We do need your Help. Hope this will merit your attention. (It did Mylene. Let us hope it would merit the attention of the local government too.)

Thank you for sending these kind of letters (through Marikenya’s contact form). Marikenya site is not only publishing good news about Marikina but also information that would be helpful to our readers.

(Disclaimer: Marikenya did not investigate the crime(s) mentioned by the letter sender. You may contact the local police for more information on the said crimes.)

I am concerned also with the growing rate of crime in Brgy COncepcion Dos. My friend , residing in Orange St, was also victimized by a salisi gang. The robber was able to open the window and sneak out the bag of her nephew. We just found the bag under the car in the morning with a missing 2 IPODs.. Good thing, it’s just those that are missing.

I am also from Concepcion Dos. And I agree that it has been a growing concern forme and my family about the increasing crime of robbery, theft and sexually-related crimes that victimizes not only young adults but also kids. Last Sunday, a 4-year-old daughter of a friend of mine was molested in a playground in between SAble and Olive St.

There were also a series of robbery and theft, my father’s Knights of columbus brother was robbed at home, taken was a wallet, a cellfone and a wristwatch AT DAYTIME!

Our Bgy. capt. may claim that crimes had decreased in recent years, but that is because people from bgy. concepcion 2 no longer report these crimes because of futile results. it’s either they report it to city police or just make extra effort to be careful next time. It is because VERY LITTLE RESULTS OR NONE AT ALL have been done to apprehend these people. And alarmingly, these criminals are becoming too bold to try their schemes even within the most crowded area.

Like last year, there were series of cellfone snatching in the corner of olive and sandalwood streets w/in the hours of 8-10 pm. This is still a very busy street that time and yet they dare to do their crimes within earshot of so many bystanders. But have something been done to stop these crimes?

There would be patrolling of bgy. police w/in a week or two after a crime but after that, they become lax again and crimes would start again. And they position their checkpoint on very conspicuous places for one week. They never vary their checkpoint areas at least once in a while. If i am a robber, I would avoid the areas where police are stationed, i’ll try other areas for the meantime. As simple as that.
And when they check vehicles, they would just peek in, and that’s it. They would not even scrutinize the passengers.

I’ve read many detective and plice crime books and most of them solve crimes because they try to think like criminals also. They try to pput themselves on the shoes of the criminals. How they think, how they do crimes, etc.

I think that’s one problem, our police, bgy. police dont seem to have the proper police training or even just to investigate crimes. They don’t even know how to patrol properly. One time, a friend of mine’s niece was sexually molested and mind you, that maniac had the nerve to go back to the scene of the crime a few days later. When the niece saw that maniac, she ran home and my friend’s family tried to run after the man while the other members called the bgy. police. They tried to search the vicinity but to no avail because the bgy. police vehicle drove like he’s driving in NLEX on lean hours. How can you search properly if you are trying to drive like they’re practicing for a drag race?

And I very much agree, those bikelanes did us more harm than good. The only people that benefitted most from that project are the people from Cainta, the robbers and the thieves etierh from Cainta and Cupang. It opened the gateway for their entrance to our homes and exit from their crimes.

Not only that, the burden of taking care of those bike lanes is being thrown at the residents. They blame us for the garbages that were thrown by those ‘MAGBOBOTE’. Grass would even grow as tall as a man. The bgy. officials would order grass-cutting and cleaning only after the city officials inspection.

Aside from that, there are so many ’sinampay’ along open spaces outside of homes. Take a look at the alleys, the open spaces.

Santos Family of #3 Alley-A Sable St. SSS Village, Marikina City has been stealing electricity from Meralco for years. Up until now, the santos family is enjoying the comfort of life in their house without thinking of paying the electric bills. They have airconditioners, computers, refrigerators, televisions and components. They have “jumpers”. We are urging the other neighbors to report this so this can be stopped. The illegal connection can start a fire not only to their house but to other houses as well. Please pass. Thank you.

We are asking for the help of Mayor Bayani to direct the brgy captains so they can monitor the houses which have “jumpers” in Marikina City esp here in Sable St. We are also asking the help of our neighbors to report electric and water illegal connctions. We have to do something so our neighborhood will be safe from fires esp during this summer. It is very hard to lose a house nowadays.

May dalawa pa ngang sasakyan. Bakit ba may mag taong ganito?
