I love artworks in any form. I love stuffing our home with beautiful things but since I have budget limitations, I always end up buying or getting displays that are really pretty and eye catching but valueless. I don’t mind though, pricey or not, what’s good in the eyes makes me feel good.
I happen to attend a workshop conducted by a trainor from Cottage Industry Technology Center (CITC) in Marikina on woodworking where they have made beautiful wood lampshades and magazine racks. I was very happy because they have given me a handsome magazine rack which I immediately brought home and painted with varnish for termite control. I was very happy with the result and when it dried, I put all my valuable magazines into it and proudly displayed my new rack in the center of the house.
Few days later, I noticed, there were wood crumbs where my rack was. When I inspected it, I realized my rack was infested with termites. I was so sad about this and my husband told me maybe I left some part of the rack unpainted with varnish where the termites infiltrated. It made me felt honestly bad that I had to let go of my rack after all my hard work of making it prettier. I guess that’s life for me. Another life’s lesson from the termites.
