A call to every Marikeños on Energy Conservation is now on progress as the Marikina City Government lead the national government’s Switch Movement Campaign.
This campaign requires government offices to switch to the use of compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) from incandescent bulbs. The switch would minimize energy consumption, a simple yet effective move to save power.
Every household in the city is therefore encourage to also make the switch which would eventually lead to fuel savings as proven by a study made by Asian Development Bank.

According to a press statement from the city government, replacing one million 60-watt incandescent bulbs with equivalent 13-watt CFLs would produce savings of at least 50 megawatts in equivalent generation. This means that for $1.5 million worth of CFLs, the country can forego an installation of a power station worth at least $50 million.
