A Year-End Dream That Just Came True

Most women, especially, home keepers like mothers love grooming homes. I belong to this type. My husband and I always argue whenever there are new appliance or furniture or home decoration I wanted to buy for the house. He would always say “that’s not practical or we don’t need that yet.” I learned that most wives share the same sentiments, that husbands are most of the time negative when home development is concerned.

As for me, I still make sure, amidst my hubby’s resistance, that little by little, our house is becoming more and more acceptable and comfortable, if not beautiful. Some months back, I have insisted some major renovations which dramatically improved the overall look of the house. There are still a lot of things to be done though but I’m glad “the future is shaping” as they say. My dream is simple, to go home to a nice-enough looking house after a tiring day’s work.

A Parenting Dilemma

My son just spent two days at home instead of going to the school. His teachers and classmates just went to a field trip and my husband and I decided not to allow him again to participate.

Last year in Nursery, we also begged off when their class had a field trip. We feel he’s too young to be in a class tour with the highlight of going to an amusement park. We’ re acting like parents, worried ones. They say it’s the problem with having an only child. We are so protective of our son. We just can’t bear the thought of him riding those unsafe rides at the carnival or even going out of town without our supervision.

More on Christmas Shopping

The other day, I wrote about online shopping — the thrills and convenience as well as tips on how not to fall for scrupulous and fraudulent sellers. Today, I’d like to share with you another good find.

As I was browsing last night, I have come across a sleek and fashionable online store called www.marissacollections.com that is a haven for women and shopaholics like me. The store features Manolo Blahniks collection of watches and shoes among others. The store has huge collection of designer bags, mules, clothes and other fashionable stuff for the whole family. It’s a good source for Christmas gifts. If you live in the US, the shipping is free but don’t worry if you don’t, international shipping is available.

The store spells class and in terms of its credibility, the site is a PR4 so you are quite sure it can be trusted. Shopping is fun when you are doing it with the right store. :)

The Lifelong Learner is a Certified Teacher

It took me a while to actually get down from heaven and write this article. I feel very celebratory.

The reason is I, along with my classmates at the Marikina Polytechnic College (MPC) passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) we took last September 28 of 2008. Oh yes, we waited for more than a month for the result and everything was worth it, we did passed!

With this, I wanted to thank every person instrumental to this achievement. My family who allowed and supported me to finally earn my units in Continuing Professional Education (CPE), a prerequisite before taking the board exam. The congratulatory text message that made me cried wildly came from my mother. She said:

Congrats! You’re the best, I Love You… Nanay

My passing the LET is a gift I’m most thankful for, a blessing I wasn’t expecting from God but definitely prayed for. Weeks before the exam, I have decided not to take it. I planned on reviewing but never got the chance of even holding the reviewers my friends photocopied for me. I was not at all prepared.

Online Shopping and Gift-Giving for Busy Moms

Couple of nights back, I was out with some girlfriends. After dinner, we immediately went shopping — a sport we are all in-love with.

I love doing my shopping with women friends especially because this particular group share my taste in clothing and all other girl stuff. As much as we we wanted it though, mall shopping only comes once in a while whenever there’s time and budget.

More often than not, I shop online. Just this morning, my clothing package arrived from a wonderful online seller which made me totally happy because along with my orders, she threw in a shipping rebate plus a very cute top as a freebie.

As far as technology is concern, online shopping is a perk that busy shopaholic moms like me enjoys. I have bought tons of stuff in the web not only for myself but also for family and even as gifts for friends. Do I recommend online shopping? Oh yes, I definitely do. If you’re planning to shop online though, there are things you should consider.

First, compare prices of the product you’re interested in. For instance, if you’re planning on buying a special woman a gift for Christmas, you may want to consider giving her a perfume. Before you click that buy-now-button, go to sites that compares prices of perfumes like www.savebuckets.co.uk so you would know which store offers the best prices and best deals.

Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Through Blogging

big bingo game

I am again tagged on breast cancer awareness by new blog friends Bonnie and Faye and of course, I have strong conviction on this topic so I’m doing this.

Here are some facts about this dreaded disease:

The National Breast Cancer Foundation estimates that each year, over 200,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and over 40,000 die. One woman in eight either has or will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Approximately 1,700 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 450 will die each year.

Important Note: Early Detection through Mammogram. The National Cancer Institute and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommend that women in their forties and older have mammograms every one to two years.

To support this campaign –
1. Put the logo in your blog.
2. Add a link to the person who shared it with you.
3. Nominate at least 7 other blogs
4. Add your link to the list of participants below
5. Leave a message for your nominee on their blog.

Join the pink sisterhood campaign. I am tagging all my lady blogger friends to support this tag and spread the word of awareness on this Cancer to the blogosphere.
