Quick Tips to Avoid the Christmas Rush and Stress

Christmas Countdown: 51 days to go before Christmas!

I can really feel it. Christmas is coming to town! The whole idea of course warms my heart and make my pocket and budget panicky.

As a homemaker, I have somehow mastered the art of planning early for this special event. Let me share with you some of the things I am doing to avoid the Christmas stress and see if some of these would be helpful to you too —

I Making the gift-list early. I’ve learned that it is always helpful to prepare a segregated gift-list. Here’s how mine and my husband’s list goes: female godchildren, male godchildren, young nieces, young nephews, teen nieces, teen nephews, female adults, male adults. This way, when you shop for gifts, you know how many toys or educational items you need to buy or if you need a trip to a wholesale fashion jewelry store. Your list would save you time and money in the process. Just make sure that once you’re done shopping for a gift for a particular person in the list, mark it. I

I Start planning your carte du jour for the noche buena and even for the media noche. Once you know what you are going to prepare, you can start buying ingredients that does not spoil like canned goods. For instance, I already started stacking fruit cocktails, condense milk and all-purpose cream for my special salad menu. I

I Take advantage of Mall Sales. One of my habits as a shopaholic is always finding out when nearby malls would hold Sales. If you are going to buy new outfit for Christmas and New Year for you and the kids (which is already part of our pinoy culture), I suggest you hunt mall bargains. Quick tip for those living in Marikina and nearby, Sta. Lucia East and Robinsons Metro East always holds sales, usually on paydays. I

On top of everything is still planning. To combat stress is to plan and manage well our holiday so Christmas would come as a welcome and delightful event not only for the children but for us adults as well. This way, we would really feel the spirit of Christmas. :)
