A Filipino Family Christmas Tradition

Two days more to go and it’s Christmas Day! My friends and I made a pact that from now on until the dawn of the new year, we would strive very hard to stay happy and be at peace with the world.

There are so much to worry about but I decided I would make this holiday a merry one for my son and the rest of the family. Fortunately, if there are mishaps along the way, God always make sure that it clears somehow.

I’m done worrying about gifts for my godchildren and my niece and nephews. I am now thinking about our noche buena and media noche menu. It has been our tradition to stay together on Christmas and New Year’s Eve and eat our meals together at 12 midnight. I inherited this practice from my parents who never allowed any excuses of not being present on this special meals of the year. I hope that this time, I would not gain as much weight that I’d need the help of diet pills like alli. Whew!

Whether or not we celebrate with lots of food on our table or money in our pockets, what remains to be the most important blessing for me this Christmas is staying together as a family and battling life’s challenges happily and with peace in our hearts. :)
