Marikina’s Rehiyon Rehiyon 2008

Gear up everyone, make sure your schedule is free on Monday, December 8, 2008 to watch the annual Rehiyon Rehiyon Festival in the City of Marikina.

This festival of festivals is done every year in the month of December as an event that coincides with Marikina’s Cityhood celebration. Marikina City is 12 years old this year since it gained its cityhood mark in 1996 of December 8.

Every year, the festival is celebrated grand with streetdancing and cultural presentations of performers portraying the different regional festivals all over the country.

If you have your pen ready, note now the schedule of the festival that would definitely cause heavy traffic citywide:

I Streetdancing I
Starts at 4PM, Starting point is Barangka Barangay Hall and would traverse the length of A. Bonifacio Avenue to Sumulong Highway, Sto. NiÃƒÆ’Ã‚Â±o.

I Cultural/Regional Presentations I
Program Proper starts at 6PM at the Marikina Sports Park but there’s a special Cultural Ritual to be performed by the Elders of Kalinga at 4PM.
