These past weeks, I developed a new fondness for watching home TV shopping shows. It started when my husband and I went channel surfing and got stuck to this show where they feature a set of miracle knives that cuts miraculously anything with perfect precision.

We had to contain ourselves to not dial the TV shopping numbers and order a set. Since then, I became a fanatic to this show and whenever I’m home and resting, I watch the featured products with great interest.

Yesterday, the show was featuring beds. At first, I thought they were selling bed frames and I was wondering if it’s time to get one for our room. After watching some more, I realized they were actually selling a remote-controlled mechanism that helps elevate beds and mattresses just like in hospitals. It was very interesting and it hooked me but the price tag for the appliance was P3,999 or almost a $100, not cheap but very functional.

Being a shopping addict, it’s not surprising that I somehow developed a liking for this type of shows just like when I developed a habit for shopping online a few years back. Not a good sign though if I wanted to keep our finances afloat amidst the global financial crises. There’s hope though — President Obama and the people’s trust on his power to change and save the world.
