Still on Christmas’ Spirit of Gift Giving

Who were the happiest people on Christmas day and beyond? The young ones, most especially children. While we plan and worry about gift giving, our children looks forward to receiving them. They’re very lucky.

I am thankful that I had my share of wonderful childhood memories during Christmas. Actually, I only had a set of godparents who never failed handing me something on those days. With small gifts, I was already thankful and happy, I was a cheerful child.

I hope that the children of today are also appreciative as I was when I was a child. My son received a lot of stuff on Christmas — money, toys, sports gifts, clothes. He was thankful and happy with all those but he always wanted more, children of today are not too appreciative as we were in the olden days.

Today where we worry so much about the global financial crisis, crimes, corruption and scandals, Christmas has always been a breather. The spirit of gift giving is not about prices or the kind of gifts we give, it’s about making someone happy and feel good with you remembering them.
