News: Grieving Over the Loss of a Good Filipina – President Corazon ‘Cory’ Aquino

At past three (3) in the morning today, I was startled by a text message from a good friend saying the former president of the Republic of the Philippines, Madam Corazon ‘Cory’ Aquino already passed away.

While preparing for work, I opened the television for the morning news so I can learn about the story of Madam Cory Aquino’s death. The good president passed away this morning at exactly 3:18 at the Makati Medical Center for Cardio Respiratory Arrrest. She went peacefully surrounded by love from her family and prayers from the whole nation.

Madam Aquino, popularized by color yellow, has always been the symbol of the fight for freedom and democracy in our country since the death of her husband, Ninoy Aquino. The whole world watched her bravery as she led the whole nation oust the martial law dictator, former president Ferdinand Marcos, in the late ’80s. The EDSA People Power victory will always be remembered and Madam Cory was the driving force of the nation on that revolt.

While watching the news, I did not notice my tears were rolling down which also happened while I was writing this article. Madam Aquino will always be a symbol of strength and motherhood (in the domestic and nationalistic level) for Filpinos. One things is for sure, she’s a Filipina whom this country will never forget.

This blog and the auhtor offers sincere condolences to the family of the former president, Cory Aquino. May the good Lord bless and keep her soul.
