Happy 2010!!!
Right on time to greet everyone a happy 2010! It’s 15 minutes before midnight and we’re all very excited, very awake and with coins in our pockets, ready to cheer the coming of the new year!
Let’s all try to be very positive so that the misfortunes, calamities and disasters that befell us will be put behind and we can start living a hopeful life again.
A Christmas Accolade
Merry Christmas everyone! Despite everything, the spirit of Christmas should live within all of us and let us try to find something to thank God for, let us find reasons for celebration.

Let me take this time to thank the people who helped me, my family and my neighbors and friends to cope with the aftermath of typhoon Ondoy in our city. This maybe a late accolade but nonetheless, very timely, as today is the most fitting day for showing and expressing gratitude.
Here are the people I wanted to say thank you to since September (in random order) –

One of the biggest event Marikenians await for every year is the Year-End Concert and Frieworks Display which eventually became an attraction to people not only from Marikina but also from other nearby cities and towns.
This year, you’d be happy to know that the artists for the Marikina Year-End Concert are Vice Ganda (the show-stealer of Showtime), Concert Queen Pops Fernandez, Singer Sam Concepcion, and Rock Steady band. As the tradition goes, the concert and the fabulous Marikina Grand Fireworks Display will be held on December 30 at the Riverbanks Amphitheater. The show starts at around 6 or 7 PM but if you want to get good seats and good view of the stage, come early.

Spending Christmas Bonuses
A couple of nights ago, there were two topics about Christmas bonuses in the evening news which caught my attention. The first one is about budgeting and spending wisely and the other is about the sad news about displaced workers or employed workers but will not receive their bonuses because of the economic losses their companies experienced from the typhoon Ondoy.
The second one is disheartening. Sometimes, even if we wanted to forget and move on already with the Ondoy effects, there are circumstances that force you to remember. Christmas is a time for celebration but it is not that way for a lot of people and its sad. I sincerely hope that these workers affected by Ondoy and will not get their long-awaited bonuses will find somethings to be happy for this christmas.
On the other hand, I am very thankful because I already received our company bonus. My original plan for this bonus is to buy my son’s christmas outfit and a cellular phone for my nanay as our christmas gift to her. After the Ondoy, I’ve decided that I’d be more giving and I’ll try to share our blessings with other people in need so part of the bonus was spent to support that cause.

How to Identify a Happily Married Couple?
Posted by mhel in general, relationship on December 17th, 2009
“Happiness is like intelligence, if you have it, it shows.”
This is what I realized when I attended the wedding of a good friend yesterday, Neil and his wife, Niel. I would never miss their wedding because Neil is the one responsible for my entrance to the blogosphere. He was patient in teaching me the technicalities of website development, even if at times, I was such a sour student.
Neil and Niel are no doubt, a happy couple. Look at the evidences of this statement:
Garage Sale Free Advertisement at Marikenya.com
When I was a kid, I remember going to garage sales and patiently looking out for good stuff on sale on the seller’s garage floor.
I love garage sales! I love finding bargain stuff, mostly books and educational thingies when I was a child. I love the fact that my nanay would give me some twenty bucks before I ransack a garage sale and would go home happy with small stuff I was able to purchase with my meager shopping money.
With this, I’d like to invite anyone from Marikina and nearby places who would recently hold their garage sales to promote it in this website absolutely for FREE! Who knows, if its closer, I can even drop by and shop on your very own garage! The good thing about garage sales is its tax free and you can make money out of your stuff that you don’t need anymore but may prove useful to other people.

Christmas Break Diet
Posted by mhel in food trip, general, health and fitness on December 16th, 2009

I photo from filipino-foods.com I
It’s ironic that while Christmas is fast approaching and people are excited about the traditional noche buena and media noche, many of us are also worried about rapid potential weight gain.
In one of the gatherings I attended, I bumped into an old friend who obviously gained a lot of weight. Another friend ask him when he is planning to lose weight, he said after new year. I laughed aloud and I told him, our dieting schedule falls on the same date and I hope we’ll have the guts to do so.
The Wonders of Technology
Posted by mhel in business, general, technology on December 14th, 2009
Everyday, I am learning about the wonders of technology and I am both impressed and worried. Impressed in the sense that life is getting easier, comfortable, and exciting because of these electronics and worried because of the potential effects of our reliance on technology, not mentioning its effect on the environment.
There’s something new I learned about today which I would like to share with you all, especially those operating their own businesses. It is probably around for a long time now but since it’s a new thing for me, I am only discussing about it now. The technology allow businesses to receive check payment via phone, fax, or email. Very convenient right?
