Who’s going to celebrate her birthday??? Don’t look any further, she’s it… better yet, am it!

The nice thing about birthdays is that you get to feel special on that special day of yours. The bad thing about is being a year old again. Not that I hate growing old because I can proudly say I mature each year, what I hate is the fact that I have lost another year to stay alive, be happy and make people I love happy with my presence.
Please try not to ask my age anymore, I won’t say it anyway. The photo above is my husband’s favorite picture of me which he took with his phone cam and is now his cell’s wallpaper. Another reason for me to feel good about my upcoming birthday right?
Let’s now get down to birthday wishes…

This year, I’d like to dream big and aim a little higher in terms of my birthday wish. If I am already a friend of yours in Facebook, you may find my status surreal and hilarious (my friends did…), read for yourself:
please don’t ask me what I want for my birthday. you may not like it if I say a brand new house and lot.

But kidding aside, this year, this birthday of mine, I wanted a house and lot. I have always lived a simple life and have not asked for a lavish or rich life. This time, my wish is a life investment of comfort and security for my family, a house and lot. It’s not too much to ask isn’t it?
I can already see my dream house forming at the back of my mind. I love interior design but never get to the part of actually doing my own house. I have always loved themed houses — modern, Filipino, Zen, Victorian, Asian, etc. I want a theme for my house. something bordering between Filipino and modern. One with mixture of modern furniture and wood, classy curtains and blinds for the windows, drop lights, inexpensive but attractive paintings from local or amateur artists, the works. I am not really sure yet how everything will look if mixed, it maybe a chopsuey idea but who knows, my fave magazine Real Living and TV show House Life can provide me a free home makeover. Now that is really a dream! But then again, it’s my birthday, allow me to soar up in the heaven and live my dreams even for a day.
To all those who greeted and remembered, thank you so much. It is another year for me and there’s so much I wanted to thank God about. Among those is for keeping this blog still a source of information and inspiration to a lot of people. It’s truly wonderful to note that Marikenya.com is being followed by hundreds of readers and subscribers grow everyday. It is really amazing and for God to allow this to happen, I must have some mission in the blogosphere don’t you think?
Again, thanks everyone!

Just a short note to salute you as another period of time quickly passes by…safely reaching the turn of the day to mark the birth of a humble celebrant.
Its a worthy achievement, especially when you get there with all the accolade. Happy Birthday! May you have many more to celebrate!

I really enjoyed your post — your birthday wish for a home. Such a beautiful wish!
I work for a small non-profit organization that provides food and shelter to the less fortunate and those without homes at all. I have a small request in keeping with your recent birthday blog.
We are sending out an appeal to raise money to provide the necessities for these people in our local area. Each year we set August aside as a birthday month for these dear homeless. We make a special birthday cake and give them little gifts of things they might need but haven’t asked for.
Many homeless people never celebrate their birthdays. They are more concerned with survival. Yet, as you know, having someone recognize you as a unique and special individual can be so encouraging!
My request is this: you’ve included a beautiful photo of a birthday cake. May we have your permission to include this birthday cake image in our fund-raising request for July?
I normally wouldn’t ask such a thing — wouldn’t clutter up your response log with this. But I was moved by your blog and how it seems to dovetail with the wishes of the people we serve. I respect whatever your decision might be, but this may be an opportunity for you to bless people that’s beyond even the scope of your blog.
Thank you for your consideration.
