Yesterday morning, Unang Hirit of GMA7 featured a tribute for the international pop superstar Michael Jackson by having a dance-showdown segment hosted by Drew Arellano and Regine Tolentino featuring dancers mimicking the popular moves of the MJ.
This morning in the news, a group of Michael’s supporters are commemorating their idol by holding a show in his name. I looked at the date and yelped, “how time flies!” Tomorrow is the first year of Michael Jackson’s death anniversary. MJ was pronounced dead at 2:26 p.m of June 25, 2009 shocking the world and left millions fans in grief including me and my husband.
CD and DVD sales featuring Michael’s music and life were all sold-out soon as they become available. Videoke concerts in household and party levels with MJ themes noisily filled the country. Shirts and other memorabilia featuring MJ were put on sale — his photo, his famous vests and boots, his signature glittering fedora hat, and everything that reminds people of him. The whole world reminisced about the great singer, the great performer whom people loved, hated, and then, loved again.
It’s a year after but it seem only yesterday. We still miss the man. I love you Michael.
