Typhoon Juan and Marikina River Water Level Update
Typhoon Juan, with international name Megi, is not yet leaving the country but every Marikenyos, since the start of the week, are praying he will. The typhoon was violent last night with its strong winds and hard rain. In our area in Nangka, a transformer from a nearby lamp post broke down and we exprienced power interruption for about an hour. Thanks to Meralco, for the first time in my life, I’m impressed with how they responded and fixed the power problem.
This morning, Metro Manila is still under the storm signal No.1 but the Department of Education decided to suspend all classes from different levels to bring home the students to safety as a precautionary measure just in case the typhoon go harder and the water level from the Dam and the Marikina River go up.
As of 5:00PM this afternoon, here are some updates about typhoon Juan and the water level of our dear Marikina River:
from PAGASA-DOST:
As of 4:00 p.m., today (Tuesday, 19 October 2010), Typhoon “JUAN” was located at 230 kms West Northwest of Dagupan City (16.9°N, 118.1°E)
from Marikina Rescue 161:
Marikina River water level is 13.8 meters.
Marikenya.com will try to provide an hourly update about the water level of the Marikina River as well as weather forecast from PAGASA-DOST. Let’s all pray that Juan leaves very soon without any casualty in Marikina and all other areas it visits.
