September is “Teachers Month”
“They may forget what you said but they will never forget how you made them feel.” - Carol Buchner
It’s time to thank our unsung heroes who selfishly devote their time, intelligence, and life in shaping the future of our young Pinoys — the teachers.
The nobility of the teaching profession is being honored in the celebration of “National Teachers Month” from September 5 to October 5, 2011 through the virtue of Proclamation No. 242 from the Malacañang Palace. Through the celebration, the whole Filipino nation are asked to remember the importance and contribution of “teachers” in our lives. DepEd encourages students to write their teachers letters, give them cards or small gifts, or even express their appreciation of them through various social networking sites.
In the news, the Philippine President said the National Teachers Month aims “to revitalize the image of teaching as a vocation by increasing public awareness on the value of teachers in Philippine society and national development.” Government agencies, local and national, are enjoined in the celebration.
The highlight of the monthlong celebration will happen on October 5 which is designated by United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Teachers’ Day.
To all educators all over the Philippines and the rest of the world (that include me, “ehem”), happy teachers day!
