Creating a Facebook Timeline Cover

If you’re on Facebook, then you must heard of the Facebook Timeline. It’s the new profile page for the social site’s users released in 2011 and received both positive and negative reactions from the online community. The “Timeline” was described by Paul McDonald, it’s engineering manager in the Facebook blog this way: ”… timeline, a new kind of profile that lets you highlight the photos, posts and life events that help you tell your story.” Back then, users are not mandated to switch yet but come April 19, those who are still hesitant and disapproving of the new profile page design will have no choice. The switch will be made by Facebook whether they approve or not.

Looking at the bright side of things, the new Facebook Timeline has one nice feature — the big banner or header on top of the user’s profile page, much like the header on blogs (such as what you see here in Marikenya.com). The banner header or the “timeline cover,” if designed well and creatively, wows the profile page visitors. It’s a good marketing campaign for people who sells, markets and networks  in Facebook.

Now, the question is how do you design your Facebook Timeline cover, header or banner?  There’s the easy way, and there’s the hard, but personalized and creative, way.

The easy way is simply choosing and downloading predesigned graphics and templates for Facebook Timeline from sites such as myFBCovers.com which you can simply upload in Facebook. Another easy way is using online sites, again, like myFBCovers.com, to create a Fabook timeline cover using your photos and own designs via the site’s custom cover creator or collage maker.

The hard way is using photo editors such as Adobe Photoshop in creating or making your own designs. The Facebook timeline cover image size is 851px x 315px. Though you can post larger photos because you can crop and drag the banner accordingly, it’s still better to create a banner or header the exact size of the timeline cover so you’ll have a perfect profile page.
