The whole nation hang on to every words of the Philippine Senator-Judges as they read their votes and justifications  on  Supreme Court’s Chief Justice Renato Corona’s Impeachment Trial. The verdict was given by the judges — nineteen (19) voted for conviction while three (3) voted for acquittal. Only sixteen (16) votes are needed to convict the chief justice.

The decision should be covering three (3) articles of impeachment, namely Articles 2, 3 and 7. With the nineteen votes (not including yet the vote of the presiding judge, Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile) of “guilty” for Article 2, there is no need for the voting for the next articles to ensue anymore. CJ Corona is found guilty of “culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust by failing to disclose statements of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALNs).
