Another long weekend is up the sleeves of working Pinoys as the Office of the President declared another non-working holiday this  Monday, August 27, 2012.

The holiday was made official thru the virtue of Proclamation No. 295, series of 2011 “declaring the regular holiday, special (non-working) days and special holidays for the year 2012″ which includes the celebration of National Heroes Day this August 27.  The commemoration for national heroes falls every last Sunday of August by virtue of Revised Penal Code Act 3827. Republic Act 9492 states that holidays falling on Sundays, except those with religious relevance, are moved to the nearest Monday.

The holiday is to remind Filipinos of the known and unknown heroes of the revolution thru cultural and historical activities to be led by governmental and non-governmental organizations.
