Welcome to the ‘Ber’ Months
This morning, social sites are flooded with statuses welcoming or reminding people the start of the ‘ber’ months this year. For many Filipinos, the ‘ber’ months signals the coming of the most important holiday of every year, Christmas in December.
True enough, departments stores and boutiques are already announcing sales and promos here and then for shoppers who wanted to start Christmas shopping early. Christmas songs are also being played by radio stations and even by folks who wanted an early feel of Christmas.
As usual, the coming of the most anticipated season in the life of Christians makes me feel really good. I have always loved Christmas and love it even more when I decided to be born again for Christ.
Hopefully, people will remember and will recognize the true meaning of this Christian event, more than the festivities. Christmas should be a reminder to everyone that Father God sent His only begotten Son to the world so whoever believes in Him will not be perish and will have eternal life.
God bless us all.

Hi,
Along with the cold climate the “ber” months bring, crime rate particularly robbery also becomes rampant.
Would just like to share with you an experience I had one week ago after shopping at SM Marikina.
I was on my way home around 8:30PM August 25th, I took the jeepney bound to Montalban which gets passengers below the SM Marikina overpass. When the jeep got full, we took off but not after 2 men made “sabit”. I saw one of them holding some long object with some sort of a handle. Being a paranoid who have probably seen a lot of police reports on local news. I already have a feeling that they’re up to no good. A few blocks later, my instinct was validated when I saw the guy pointed a knife to one of the passengers (who was texting at the time) and asked for his cellphone. He also pointed the knife to two other passengers and got their phones too.
Upon approaching Ligaya (A. Rodriguez corner Marcos Highway, they demanded from the jeepney driver that they be dropped off. All of us in the jeep were shocked and scared. Some passengers even thought that the robbers were just barkers who hitched for a ride.
I have heard of holdup stories in public transpo but it was the first time i witnessed it firsthand.
Not too long ago, my sister who works at night was also held-up inside the jeep around 10PM along Marcos-highway Barangka (cubao-bound).
With incidents like these/ it has become very traumatic for a commuter like me to go out at night.
I doubt if the victims filed any blotter with the police.
I hope you could help spread awareness among Marikenyos, particularly those who commute daily about the incidents of robbery happening in our city and hopefully those in power do something to prevent, if not totally stop it.
Thanks and more power to your blog.
Thank you for sharing your and your sister’s experiences. Indeed, peace and order is a problem these days in our city and i think, it will worsen this ‘ber’ months. Even the police admitted already their incapacity to resolve the issue (in a news, a polices was saying “magingat sa loob ng bahay” when a group of robbers gatecrashed in a children’s party.
Maybe what I can do to help spread your story is to make your sharing a post in this blog. If that’s alright with you.
