Online and offline, a campaign is being waged by bloggers and social media users against the implementation of the Cyber Crime Law. A rally is ongoing at the Supreme Court organized by the Philippine Internet Freedom Alliance (PIFA.ph) while a similar outrage is being fought online by blogsite owners and account users of social sites like Facebook and Twitter.
If you visit Facebook today, don’t be surprised to see ‘black profile photos’ and statuses and comments with black boxes instead of texts (such as below) to show support to the campaign against and now dubbed as ‘cyber martial law.’
According to Sen. TJ Guingona, the bill was passed with only him voting against it. The rest of the senators, all thirteen 13 of them, approved the immediate passage of the bill together with ‘problematic provisions’ on libel (viewed as having ‘exorbitant penalties’ such as jail time of twelve (12) years for ‘violators’) that may curtail principle of good governance as pointed out by Sen. Guingona.
The CyberCrime Prevention Act  of 2012 or Republic Act 10175 was passed into law on September 12 despite the protests, and in the midst of supposed attacks (claimed as ‘cyber bullying’) against Sen. Vicente ‘Tito’ Sotto (on the plagiarized speeches on the issue of Reproductive Health or RH).
The bill was passed with surprised Netizens wondering why the CryberCrime Law succeeded over the much-anticipated ‘Freedom of Information Act.’
This is the online poster of the anti-Cybercrime Act created by PIFA.ph, share it if you  believe that RA 10175 will curtail the democratic exchange and expression of freedom online.

THE DECEPTION OF ANTI-CYBERCRIME ACT (RA 10175)
It was so despicable to look back, the thought that we confer our trust upon them – referring to some senators to take care of the legislatorial function, who will makes and enacts laws that presupposes respect for the constitution, to allow freedom while enforcing order. And while having their sweetest time – at the senate to ascertain accurately, conclusively as by judicial function… and yet, they still made a wrong decision… claiming that they have not gone thru it exhaustively? Would you buy those shallow Alibis? Anyway, all matters attributable to their bad judgement; ignorance, inattention and most specially… give honour and glory to the Malacanang tenant a big favour. Thus, RA 10175 Anti-Cybercrime Law Act was the sneaky outcome. We dare you to confront your constituents squarely? Most-privileged member of the senate, you have the advantage and superiority of means, all at your disposal versus the lowly Juan Dela Cruz who have no other means but to vent his grievance in the form of social-comments when an act of subjugating by cruelty and oppression enforces. tsk…tsk…tsk..
