Meet the Author
Marikenya is the virtual name of Mhel Villamar Daroy, the webmaster of the site www.MARIKENYA.com. Mhel was born, raised and is still living in Marikina. Not a native or taal na taga-marikina, but by heart, a true-blooded marikenya. Learned blogging some two years back but made it a way of life a year ago. She decided to put up a blog with a travel niche named Marikenya.com as a tribute for her hometown, Marikina City, Philippines.
Mhel is a professional trainer and manpower development officer by day, a part-time college instructor by night, a writer and a graphic designer till the wee hours of any day. She is an extremely creative person whose passions include writing, graphic designing, teaching and traveling.
Her full-time career is mommyhood which makes her little boy the center of her life. She live her life following these words: “Life is what we make it.”
MARIKENYA means a female local of the city of Marikina, a proud and glorious city in metro manila, Philippines. In Spanish, it is spelled as Marikeña. The male natives of Marikina are called Marikeños. It is also synonymous to Taga-Marikina or someone from Marikina.
