Heart Matters

For three weeks, I was under health stress. I was maintaining Marikenya.com under the scrutiny of my husband who was watching me like a guard dog making sure I would not put myself under more stress. I was undergoing lab tests and medications to know the cause of palpitation of the heart I was experiencing. I was seeing an internist and heart expert at St. Vincent Hospital in Concepcion, Marikina. Read the rest of this entry »

Vain Mommies

While I am a fashionista mom, I wouldn’t exactly say I’m vain. In fact, I am not particular about brands when I buy stuff, what matters to me is quality and design. I don’t mind also roaming around the original people’s mall, Divisoria, for good buys. I love buying beautiful and useful things at steal prices.

Is Switching Facial Wash Solution Against Acne?

For a very long time, I’ve been a fan of a popular brand of facial wash with whitening effect. I was convinced to patronize it since many back then would compliment my pinkish and smooth cheeks which was the result of constantly using the said facial wash brand.

The Workaholic Syndrome

Early this morning, I awoke with a heavy heart. It’s not because I had a bad night, it’s because it was almost morning when I was able to sleep despite the fact that I need to wake up early the next day for work. I felt bad from lack of sleep so naturally, I looked like hell. I badly need an anti wrinkle eye cream to cover the black symptoms of workaholism under my eyes.

Yes, I am now a self-confessed workaholic. I am addicted to my day job as a trainor and my night job as a VA (virtual assistant) and tutor for my hubby learning to be an internet marketer. Even on weekends when I am allowed to sleep past the regular morning rush, I still wake up early and instead of sipping the morning coffee, my first morning activity is be pulling open my laptop to start working.

Why Wearing FlipFlops Everyday is Not Healthy

Since I’m an everyday wearer of the comfy and popular flipflops, the article from USA Today republished by yahoo news immediately caught my attention. It disclosed exposed the potential harms and health risks of wearing the summer footwear fad frequently and for long periods.

flipflops

According to Justin Shroyer of the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, study over 100 flip-flop wearers revealed some of the key problems with these footwear. Justin learned that when we wear flip-flops, we tend to grip and hold it in place and by doing so, we work the muscles in our shins much harder than when we’re barefoot. when we wear these preferred slippers too, our strides are shortened strides which can also strain our lower legs.

Pregnancy Tips and Reminders

This month, I’ve learned about two pregnancy stories from friends. One good news and the other, bad. One is blessed, got pregnant after more than five (5) years of marriage and is now enjoying her pregnancy with her husband. The other one got pregnant after more than ten (10) years of marriage and lost the baby.

I know how celebratory motherhood can be. Being a mom is the best feeling any woman can ever experience whether motherhood is biological or not. My mentor once said a woman only become a full person with true understanding of sacrifices and love once she become a mother, only when she experience mothering a child.
