A Poem, Dreamland and a Toy Car
Last night, when I went home, my son was telling me he needs to memorize the poem “All Things Bright and Beautiful” which they would recite tomorrow in class one-by-one. After cleaning up and eating dinner, we proceeded to the task.

Post-Summer Fun at St. Agatha Resort of Bulacan
One of the things I always look forward to is CENTEX’ annual summer getaway. This year though, because of heavy workload, our office’ outing has become a post-summer activity. It’s nevertheless as much fun and this year, we went to St. Agatha Resort of Guiguinto Bulacan.
I first went to St. Agatha last year to facilitate a communication skills program for some youth leaders. I fell in-love with the resort — it was beautiful, green (from trees and plants), and peaceful. When me and a friend took our plunge at their pools, I was impressed at how clean the water was. When our boss decided to hold our post-summer outing there, I vouched for the resort too.

A Walk at the MetroWalk
Mothers’ day can be celebrated late and it will still be as fun and as memorable. This is my experience yesterday as I spent a lovely and fun day with my college best friends and our kids.
Our bonding started by having our children participate in an art contest at SM Megamall. We never thought we have really creative kids who managed drawing beautiful objects using art materials they just used for the first time.
After the art activity, we continued our bonding session at the Metrowalk in Ortigas. We beat the heat by eating cold treats at Icebergs and proceeded with dinner at Jay-J’s Inasal.
Looking for a Near Summer Getaway? Try 9 Waves of Ciudad Christia.
Our company recently held this year’s summer outing which was held at the newly redeveloped resort in San Mateo which I used to frequent when I was young, the Ciudad Christia Resort now known as 9 Waves.
Revisiting this place brings back memories of my childhood but I must say, almost everything changed. The old Ciudad Christia was quite small with only two swimming pools available and a small-sized slide and diving board. The new 9 Waves has expanded wonderfully seating big swimming pools with waves and tall slides.
Let us tour the whole resort shall we? Photos courtesy of Ramil Nafarrete, a nice young man from MISCC.
The entrance to the resort.

Unlike in the past, the management is now really strict. I remember we used to bring everything to Ciudad, from cooked to raw food to water and alcoholic beverages. See their rules to be guided:

Summer Travel Safety Tips
Already set for your summer travel trip? Before packing your stuff and jumping into that plane, bus or ship, it would be helpful to take into consideration various travel tips. By knowing expert tips on traveling, you will be somehow assured of an enjoyable summer holiday.
For those traveling abroad, note these basic travel reminders:
1. Review your travel documents — passports, plane tickets, visa(s), hotel accommodation advisory, etc.
2. Important documents and necessities should be in your carry-on luggage or hand-carry. These valuables include travel documents, medication, expensive jewelries and gadgets. I would suggest you also pack extra clothing in your hand carry (a piece of shirt, undies, and pants or short) so even if your luggage get lost in transit or experience delay, you have something to change on.
3. Take the expert business travelers advise: “take twice as much money and half as many clothes as you think you’ll need.” Maybe not easy on the pocket but today, airlines usually enforce policies like “one piece of carry-on luggage” rule. This is especially enforced on full flights so travel as light as possible. ATMs and credit cards will come in handy too.
4. Keeping duplicate copies of important travel documents just in case you lost the original copies, you will have references.

Pinoy Summer Destinations for 2010
Summer started very early this year and not surprisingly, a lot of families and friends have already planned or already planning their 2010 summer destinations.
If you are going out of town this summer, your choices will be to go local or international. This decision will depend highly on budget or affordability and desire to visit a particular place.
For Metro Manilans who wanted to go out of town for a swim or nature tripping, the best bets are Tagaytay, Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite and Batangas. For those with better budgets, Baguio, Puerto Galera, and Ilocos are top favorites too.
The Heat is ON!
The scorching heat of the morning and afternoon sun makes me think of nothing less but glorious and fun summer vacations!
Summer started early this year. In fact, I don’t understand the weather at all. Maybe the effect of global warming, of climate change. During early morning, it is very cold but a little later than that, you’d feel like you’re inside a giant oven. It’s crazy when the sun ray strike you uncovered, you’d feel as if you were hit by a hot laser.
In hot days like these, there are two only things one may think of: cold treats like ice cream, halo-halo, banana con yelo (banana with ice); and summer outings! The cold treats may easily be acquired and inexpensive but the summer vacation may be expensive depending on your desired destination.

Wordless Wednesday: A Quiet Reminisce
I never dreamt of owning a yacht until I saw this photo by my talented friend Engr. Ebet Malonzo. Taken at the Manila Yacht Club.
