Happiest Moments of a Temporary Stay-at-Home Mom
I have experienced becoming totally domesticated and I kinda enjoyed it. I can sleep a little later because luckily, my son’s school time begins in the afternoon. I can cook our breakfast and play with my son up until he needs to get ready for school. I haven’t done this in a long while being a working mom whose always press for time. I can tell my bonding moments with my only child makes him real happy because he smiles in the morning whenever I say Mommy’s not going to office today.
For two days, I have decided to fetch him from school. I was surprised how happy my son made me during our long walks back to our house where he joyfully related to me his school activities for the day. Hi eyes dance while he animates his stories and I know right there and then, my being absent from work is all worthwhile.

What’s Worth It?
I’ve learned another valuable lesson today on motherhood: “my son’s smile and words of gratitude is more than the sum of everything I wanted to have in this world.”
Being somewhat a “kikay” type, I have always been fond of bags, shoes, and accessories and blings. Last month, I saw a really pretty pair of fashion jewelry in my favorite store but since it’s not in my budget, I have decided to wait ’till payday to buy it. Instead of buying the earrings though, I ended up buying my son a really cute small school bag for his P.E. every Friday. Looking at his beaming face tonight saying “thank you mama,” I felt I already died and went to heaven. Oh yes, he’s all worth it. Motherhood always does that to you.
Little Marikenyo and the Joys of Motherhood
Today, I awoke with text greetings from people who remembered me as a mother. Here’s one of the best message I received:
An early mother’s day greeting to a very special mom who takes care of everybody’s needs before hers. Happy Mother’s Day!
It’s true isn’t it? Mothers are the most unselfish people on earth, always thinking of her children before her self. My nanay resembled the very essence of that quote. I tried to be like her since day one of becoming a mother and my little Marikenyo can attest to that.
My most favorite part of being a mother is whenever my little Marikenyo tells me: “mama, I love you very much, now and forever, with all my heart.” That’s the part when you tell yourself, “motherhood is all worth it.”
Happy Mothers’ Day to all of us.
