Marikina Christmas Concert Stars Vice Ganda and Pops Fernandez!

One of the biggest event Marikenians await for every year is the Year-End Concert and Frieworks Display which eventually became an attraction to people not only from Marikina but also from other nearby cities and towns.

This year, you’d be happy to know that the artists for the Marikina Year-End Concert are Vice Ganda (the show-stealer of Showtime), Concert Queen Pops Fernandez, Singer Sam Concepcion, and Rock Steady band. As the tradition goes, the concert and the fabulous Marikina Grand Fireworks Display will be held on December 30 at the Riverbanks Amphitheater. The show starts at around 6 or 7 PM but if you want to get good seats and good view of the stage, come early.

Marikina Tiangge Sa Riverpark (Marikina Riverpark Tiangge)

Have you done your christmas shopping yet? Maybe you may consider visiting the annual Marikina Tiangge sa Ilog (Marikina Riverpark Tiangge), the christmas night market that offers good and bargain deals with a view!

At this time, the tiangges or night market stalls already lined up the riverpark. When we passed along the Marikina Riverpark earlier, it was jampacked with people considering that it is only tuesday night, can you just imagine how full it is on a friday or during the weekend?

It has become a favorite shopping bazaar not only for Marikenyos but also for those coming from nearby cities. I beleieve the reasons are they get to buy products at a cheap and bargain price and splurge on inexpensive but delicious food too while enjoying the beauty of the riverpark.

Marikina’s Version of the ‘old COD’ through the Animated Christmas Display

The Marikina city governemnt is really making big-time efforts in making its citizenry feel the spirit of Christmas despite the losses and pains from the flooding caused by typhoon Ondoy.

Two days ago, the animated christmas show placed on the Marikina city hall, already opened. The show mimic the popular COD department store animated display in Cubao way back in the 80s. Marikina’s own version feature animated doll show with the theme “Rising from the Mud.” It shows the struggles of Marikenyos from the typhoon Ondoy flooding and the efforts of Marikina for recovery and since its a christmas show, it narrates the story of the birth of Christ.

Marikenya: There will be another jobs fair this November. This is the last jobs fair for this year so mark your calendar. The date is November 17, 2009, this will be held as usual at the Marikina Sports Park (MSP). I heard there will be a livelihod and jobs fair sponsored by a city councilor and PESO this October but no details about it yet so stay tuned.

–>Antonio Camacho: Magandang araw po, meron po bang hiring dyan po sa Marikina as a driver?
Marikenya: If you’re referring to Marikina City Government hiring for drivers, you may go to the city personnel office to inquire and submit you resume for future hiring. Please understand that I am not part and do not have a hold of the hiring process of the city government.

As far as I know, there’s no chosen organizer yet for this year. Once I learn about it, I’ll be posting their contact details here.
