Philippine Holidays for 2010 and Summer Destinations

The Department of Tourism (DOT) issued early the calendar of Philippine Holidays this 2010 to guide tourists, local and foreign, to plan their vacations.

DOT encourages Pinoys to spend their vacation here in our local destinations other than going abroad to help the local economy. “Spend money here for the long holidays,” says DOT. Aside from the country’s eight (8) anchor sites which are Boracay, Palawan, Davao, Cebu, Bohol, Vigan, Baguio, and Manila, it encourages local tourists to visit what they dubb as “unexplored sites” which will help the communities in said areas. Some of these unexplored sites in terms of beaches are Camiguin, Leyte, Mindoro, Occidental and Oriental Negros, Siquijor, and Quezon while nature-lovers may consider going to Bataan, Batanes, Benguet, Bulacan, Cavite, Marinduque, and Romblon and heritage hunters may seek the old historical charm of Bacolod and Iloilo.
