Business 101

I handled a training course once on Finanacial Management for SMEs (Small and Medium Entrepreneurs). It was a really interesting mixture of business-minded individuals who have different principles and ideas about business management but all wanting the same —more profitable income from their ventures.

One of my participants was a housewife and employee who in her desire to start her own eatery, took the chance of getting business loans from small-time lenders with high interest charges. When she opened this to the group, a reaction was immediate from a participant who’s a single mom and a catering services proprietor telling her “starting a business from a loan is not lucky according to feng-shui.” The others then piped in and we had quite a lengthy discussion on the subject because half or more of the participants actually started their commerce by getting Business Loans.
