Just Got My New Baby

June 12, 2008 · Filed Under technology · 7 Comments

Thanks to Dennis, a friend in the real and virtual world for helping me choose my newest baby — my new Sony Ericsson K770i. Of course, my main consideration for getting this phone is way beyond its features. As a mom, I was after features and affordability and I was happy to have found it in this model. I was just disappointed it’s not wi-fi ready and GPS capable. With my new phone, I’d be posting pictures with better resolution now. :)

Everything Online

March 25, 2008 · Filed Under general, shopping · Comment

These days, almost everything may be found in the world wide web. I started selling online a couple of years back and I was astounded that almost everything can be sold and bought in the net. You may buy you groceries or even even prescription drugs online, really hassle-free.

I remember last year when I was reading a forum of a popular auction site, a buyer was complaining about a scammer who did not send the preowned baby bottles she bought from the merchant and my reaction was — “What? She would allow her baby to use used feeding bottles from strangers???” But in reality, that’s the “advantage” of shopping and selling online. One can buy prescription drugs or sell broken appliances, no holds barred.

It’s really convenient to do shopping and selling online. One thing though, beware of scammers, sellers and buyers alike.

Are You a Gadget or Techno Addict?

March 22, 2008 · Filed Under general · 2 Comments

Are you such a technology freak? How many gadgets do you have at home? How fancy are you with your techno or electronic stuff? Are you very techy or just love techy stuff?

I just realized while cleaning my computer keyboard that I have become a little techno crazy, compared to what I was and what I preferred in the past. These are my inventory of gadgets — a complete desktop pc set-up, two pieces of usb flash drive, a really cute four-port hub, another single usb port hub with long cable, an mp4 player, a portable memory card reader, a digital camera with memory cards, a megapixel camera cellphone, two dvd players, components with surround and speakers, and my recent addition, my wow magic sing.

Truth is, they are not much but I’m still surprised that I actually have all of these while I’m not a really techy person. I in fact hardly use most of these gadgets but I love having them around.

What about you? What do you have? Tell me your gadget/techno story and win a link love in this post. :D

The Technology Side of Everything

March 14, 2008 · Filed Under blogging, business · 2 Comments

When I started blogging, I was just a multiply, friendster blog and blogpost small time user. Now, I have actually made progress by having my own domain and web hosting. Of course, there’s a price for upgrading but fortunately, my site’s revenue was able to make up for those costs.

Use of technology is quite pricey but in today’s world, business will really be more competitive with the right use of technology. Of course if one is not knowledgeable enough, he may just click and find bogus or incompetent system providers in the net. For business and institutions, it is recommended that you get system providers like SCP with more than 16 years experience in software and applications solutions. You may want to become an IBM, Motorola or Coca-Cola who are all their clients.

Technology is indeed helpful in achieving your business goals make sure your provider is reliable because the key to business success are reaching your customers and providing excellent services.

The Writer’s Block

February 6, 2008 · Filed Under education, general, self-help · Comment

Five or six or seven years ago (this is intentional so you would have a little confusion guessing my age), I was a college student worrying about term papers, research materials, book reports and the likes.

Lucky for me, I was not a Journalism student because of peer pressure or parents’ will, it was my love for literature that made me take the course. Apparently, about 20 to 40 percent of my classmates did not share my passion for writing and each time we were asked to submit dissertations or research papers, they would utter words of disgust and would try to cajole our other classmates to write their papers for them.

It was also during my college days that I’ve learned about the proliferation of businesses in the university belt area and Recto for some hundred bucks, you’ll have your thesis or research papers ready in time for submission! I never used their services and in fact, was offered opportunities in the past to write papers for some students which I declined for some reasons.

Today, you need not go to U-belt and Recto to buy essay. All you have to do is surf the internet for keywords like custom essay and essay online and voila, you’ll have websites in your midst offering vast choices of writing services.

Identity Theft Alert

January 21, 2008 · Filed Under business, general, self-help · 4 Comments

The other day, I received an email and text from a friend of mine with the following message:

Guys, I found out that my yahoo email address was hacked and now being used by someone pretending to be me. I can’t log in anymore and that person sends emails to people in my directory telling them I badly needed money and I’m in Nigeria.

When I received her message, I was really worried. For some time now, I’ve heard stories about hacked paypal accounts, hacked ebay accounts, hacked email accounts and even hacked blogs! I was disturbed by those stories but now, I’m really afraid. It happened to a friend of mine so I feel that the reality of identity thefts are closing in.

Not to mention cyber identity thefts are not the only problem, crimes in the real world regarding these kind of thefts are also becoming rampant. Just in our company, a number of people were charged by their credit cards for using it to shop and even withdraw cash advances. Apparently, their cards were either stolen or were not even received by the rightful owners when sent by the credit card companies. There were also problems with cellphone bills, long-distance charges and just recently, I’ve heard stories about receiving loan and amortization notices by people who were not aware that such loans existed!

It is indeed clear that we have an escalating problem on identity theft so let me share with you some tips on how to avoid being a victim of one:

  • Enroll in programs from LoudSiren in partnership with Debix that offers reliable and secured identity theft solutions.
  • Bring only important I.D. cards when needed. Secure your passport, security cards, and such at home to prevent more damages to your accounts or identity if ever snatching or hold-up will occur. Read more

Choosing Valentine’s Gift For Your Lady Love

    January 16, 2008 · Filed Under general, relationship, self-help, seo, shopping · 8 Comments

(This article was created by request of my favorite reader, palitoking.)

A couple of days ago, I’ve written tips onInexpensive Valentine’s Day Gifts for boyfriends and husbands. This time, I would be sharing to you winning ideas on what a boyfriend, husband or even a suitor may give his lady love this valentines.

  • Anything Sweet and Nice. In this category, the traditional flowers and chocolates are still considered winners, only if there’s a twist. It is still fun receiving flowers and chocolates on v-day but really boring and not exciting anymore. But don’t despair, the roses and ferrero trick would still work if you modify the way it was given. Examples? Hmmm… if all this time, you have been personally giving the flowers to your honey, this time, have it delivered! Nothing beats a woman’s moment where all eyes are on her because she was handed a bouquet of flowers from a delivery man. And oh, don’t forget your handwritten card with your truly sweet message on it!

  • Anything Cute and Adorable. Women always love receiving cute and adorable stuff. It need not be expensive also. Classic example of items that falls in this category are the huggable stuf toys (it may sound old school but women still love hugging stuff toys from lovers) but makes sure, the size of the stuff toy is indeed for hugging and not looking. For modification, you may give a stuff toy with some blings on it (didn’t i say women love blings?) like matching bracelet and necklace. You may also put a tag on the cute thing’s neck with a message like “Her name is ____, and she’s here to always remind you how much I adore you.”

    Blog Advertising War

    January 11, 2008 · Filed Under blogging, general, seo · 2 Comments

“Whammy, Whammy, Spare My Blog Money!!!”

When I started blogging a year ago, I only thought of it as a venue for self-expression and exercising my writing skills. Everything changed when I acquired my self-hosted blog. The money factor, whether I like it or not, is a major consideration. Why? Because I have to pay for my domain and hosting, electrical bill and internet connection charges. It’s not enough that I get the high from blogging, it’s a reality that I need to settle my account by monetizing my blog.

Today, a lot of advertisers uses the internet versus the mass media as a cheaper alternative in advertising their products. This is where a lot of bloggers earn revenues. By being paid through ads.

How to get paid for blogging? Advertisers choose to advertise on blogs which are registered and approved by “paid posts” sites. Once approved, you will be given tasks to write about articles on specific services, company, organizations, or websites which you will be asked to post in your blog and voila! Easy Money! From what I’ve experienced and heard from fellow bloggers, Smorty is among the most popular sites where you get job offers regardless of page ranks and it also pays faster than competitors.
